Purpose and Overview

An introductory expedition to an island ecosystem catering basic nature education and understanding the ecological importance and challenges filled with rooted adventure and experiences led by indigenous communities and field experts. This expedition is for someone who loves traveling for diverse experiences, simple stays but heartfelt people and an interest to observe and learn about nature more than just for leisure.
Explore the Asia’s best blue flag beaches, diverse cultures and its indigenous communities, tropical and littoral forests, pristine marine life biodiversity and unique wildlife wonders of unique evolution of species due to its geographic isolation from the main land. All through various activities crafted carefully in order to enhance the whole experience through nature education suitable for everyone who has a bit interest to learn about nature through simple storytelling.

Highlights and Experiences

Experience the indigenous Karan culture and immerse in their lifestyle by exploring Karan cuisine staying in their community run Homestay, learning and giving your hands on experience by taking part in their bamboo handcrafts and weaving with local artisans, also learn to cook Karan iconic dishes and giving your mind some space to roam around in some of the remote areas of the island. This place is also best for birdwatching and stargazing.

Get to learn more about the island ecosystem delving into unique endemic species of birds, reptiles and jumping into marine species from exploring the common fish id’s and interesting invertebrates to the introduction and importance of coral reef ecology all through different interesting workshops, presentations, land based and water based activities. Also explore some land based activities in the island like intertidal walk, forest bathing, hiking to secret beaches and waterfalls, kayaking and much more.

Stays & Foods

Cultural homestays managed by indigenous community, backpackers hostel, tent camping and beach huts. All stays are AC except Homestay and tent stay.

We will be exploring Karan cuisine which is the highlight and there are so much of options for sea food, Veg, Vegan and Jain. Each lunch and dinners are planned according to the combined decisions of group members.

Staying in Karan Homestay, tent camping in low light pollution secluded area, hostel filled with local vibe and relaxing in the beach huts. Each day is spend totally different from other day and serves its own uniqueness.
